When have you ever known the color red to be so full of emotion and meaning during any other time of year?
February and Valentine’s Day has many meanings, some good, some historical, but it has always been known as the month of love. Love is a wonderful thing, not just for couples, but for families, relatives and friends. Everyone needs to know how special they are, and my way to make people feel it is to show them with something that comes right from my heart and my hands.
Every piece of jewelry I make and every watercolor or tile I paint tells that the person who receives it “is” special. My mother always taught me that, when a gift comes from the hand of the maker, it holds not only the love of the person who has chosen it to give but also the love of the maker.
From the beginning, I have made it my work to produce unique items that I connect with on a personal level. “From my hands to yours” is a motto I live and work with to help you know that my hands have created something exceptional for you or a loved one so precious in your heart.
Come and spend time with me at Windy Point Vineyards in the Yakima Valley over the Presidents’ Day weekend, Saturday – Monday, February 16 – 18 for the annual “Red Wind and Chocolate” (I will most likely be there from Friday, February 15; please call Windy Point Vineyards at 509-877-6824 to verify). I will look forward to offering you the finest my hands have to give.
Or, look around my website and let me know if you see anything that touches your heart. After all, art is an expression of oneself, and the love of art is that of your appreciation for the love and joy my hands have experienced.
Be well, my friends, and all the best for this month that reminds us of how special our loved ones are.
Have you ever just been too tired, too busy, too stressed out, or just not in the mood to go to the mall…especially around Christmas? Well, If you feel any of these things, I invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy shopping from your very own sofa or table. Let me take the tension out of the season so you have time to spend doing equally as important activities such as cooking, being with family, soaking in a hot tub, or just reading or watching TV. The unique gifts I handcraft are not sold in department stores. They are one of a kind pieces made from metal, gemstones, crystals, silver, gold, paper and paint. (more…)
Cool air, warm colors, family, friends and the best food all year…I love it. Time away from work, time with loved ones, cooking together and enjoying a holiday where the only stress is making dinner on time. With the onset of colder weather, one thing I’ve made time for is working in my little studio designing new and eclectic creations. The eclectic part of me loves the look of old and new together. You will see this in many of my new offerings on my Jewelry page.
For those of you following my website, it’s been a year since it went live. Over the past year I’ve interacted with wonderful people, heard from visitors to my site, and learned many things from shoppers at events. With your suggestions, my work has matured. I am excited to discover what comes my way in Year 2 on the web.
And fall fun!
Fall is a great time to create using the beautiful changing colors of the season. The greens and blues of summer are making way for gold, red, brown, orange and purple. With shorter days, I spend less time outside and more time working on new creations, yet to be revealed on my website. While enhancing earthy gemstones, metal and wire in several fall articles, I continue to feature grape cluster designs in your favorite colors.
Fall is also the end of season for many fruits and vegetables, but for grapes, it’s the beginning of harvest and production on 2012 vintages, as I am pursuing my 2012 vintage collection with gemstones, crystals and natural brass, along with buttons, pearls and components reminiscent of a bygone era. What a great summer! Hard to believe this weekend unofficially marks the end to it all.
Come join me for Fremont Fest on Saturday, August 4th in NE Portland. There will be lots of fun for everyone.
It will be my first participation in this street festival. It happens right in my neighborhood so I feel the need to get out and support the locals. (more…)
I don’t know how the weather’s been where you are, but in Portland where I live, it has been spotty at best. A little sun, lots of rain, plenty of cool, cloudy days. At times, it’s hard to believe that summer is actually here specially when we are dying to feel it. (more…)
What better way to spend a month in celebration of some wonderful people and cultures.
And, on Memorial Day, we remember those we have lost. (more…)
Spring is finally in the air and the sun feels so warm and inspiring.
I am so anxious for the rain to go away and the summer to be here. I know those of you who live here in Portland know exactly what I mean.
My summer creations have started, and they are filled with my excitement of the season. I will have them posted soon (4/17/12 they have been posted at the top of the gallery! Go to Jewlery.)
With spring comes spring barrel tasting in the beautiful Yakima Valley. (more…)
Ok, today is the day I deliver on my promise! I promised to get creative and motivated, and to post new artwork and jewelry; so here they are! Please take a moment to see what I have prepared for you and if they please you as much as they do me. (See larger images on Jewelry and Watercolor pages!)
Art in all forms is such a subjective thing. Sometimes a piece just hits us where our heart is and we can’t live without it, sometimes we may like it, but not love it, and sometimes it stirs nothing, or possibly even displeasure. (more…)
Happy New Year everyone!
I hope the start of this new year, the year of the dragon, is full of promise, excitement, and strength of purpose to help you take full advantage of the wonderful things ahead. I myself am hoping this year will bring me more visitors like you, people with an appreciation of art and jewelry…especially mine ;0). (more…)
Wow, can you believe it, Christmas is so close I can taste my favorite holiday foods, smell the aroma of pies and pastries, cinnamon and evergreen, and feel the warmth of being together with family…”insieme con la famiglia”.
When I began writing these blogs, I wanted to ensure they came from my heart, and that people could relate to me in a personal sense. Although it is sometimes difficult to make that connection without talking to each of you in person, it has become easier for me to feel it the more I write to you. As always, I invite you to be a part of what makes me happy as I create new things along the way.
You will find a watercolor print list now on the Watercolor page. I hope it will help you identify each watercolor in the slideshow when you want to ask me about them or any particular one. I will add some wolf prints to the page, as well as some more necklaces and earrings for my Jewelry collection. So, stay tuned as they will be uploaded within the next few days.
So, another Thanksgiving holiday has come and gone; once again, I am overwhelmed by how fortunate I am. This holiday more than any other reminds me that I should always be grateful for everything. I hope all of you had a wonderful time with your family and friends, and that you were able to enjoy some time off.
As I promised in the previous blog , many more earrings, along with a few new necklaces, have been added to Jewelry. Also price ranges are now posted on each category page, to give you an idea of what to expect. It has always been my desire to make my work accessible to as many people as possible through reasonable pricing.
Another holiday season is approaching and I am thankful for all the visitors to this site.
In addition to some great new earrings and necklaces to be added to my Jewelry page in a day or two, a promo video featuring my art and jewelry is in the works. I can’t wait to share all of them with all of you!
I also will try to get some time in the very near future to do some more watercolors. I love to paint. It is one of the greatest joys in my life. That’s why I’m so tickled and happy when other people like what I have painted. It brings me not only a sense of pride but also a feeling of fulfillment that keeps me plodding along. I do so appreciate all words of encouragement; and I welcome “constructive” criticism to help me grow and mature as an artist. (more…)
Hello everyone, and welcome!
The website you have entered has been quite a process. If it were not for my good friend, Kayoko, I would not be talking to you right now, or sharing with you my passion for art and jewelry. I am very excited to show you my work and hopeful that it will touch a cord in you, that will make you want to share it with me. (more…)
